BRAIN FART, I just noticed that I have forever been typing "set you background to...", since I just copy and paste that sentence from whatever the last post I wrote was. I do know how to write, just a one time typo repeated again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again...

Anyway. These backgrounds feature Jacob and Flocke in a similar pose. I personally like the first one the most. The simplicity of it pops more on screen and frames the content of the page well. (Random note: the triangles in the second one are actually pieces of the smoke monster screencapped from season 2!)

Also note that Blogger is doing this thing now where when you click on an image it fits itself into your window. You have to make sure to hover over it and click when you see the magnifying glass to get it full size.

Happy LOST Tuesday, friends! Today, a delightfully bitchy (or not) Twitter background from @aouaLOST. Some guidelines go with this background, so please check below.

This is a non-tiling background. Set your background color (the left-most color box) to 9e4f13, encircled in red as seen in the box below.

As always, Namaste, and enjoy the show!

I really like these. They're a little bigger in file size than the others, but still well below the maximum Twitter allows. Stupid me just discovered that if you darken a picture of clouds enough, it looks like the smoke monster. How the hell didn't I figure that out sooner?

Anyway, enjoy. We're really winding down to the end now, and although I know you don't need a reminder, we only have eight episodes left (nine hours total). Savor it, my friends.

Congratulations to YunJin Kim, who got married on the beach today. Best of luck to her and her new hubby. Here's a new non-tiling Twitter background to celebrate. Set our background color to black.

Flash Sideways

I've set up a Tumblr account (just to see what the buzz was about). Gotta say, fun stuff! Check out my new little terror, Flash Sideways. (and fyi, that screenshot up there features a Sawyer/Kate video, check it out at FS.)

These are two Locke backgrounds...well one Locke, one MIB. Twitter versions tomorrow.

I did a Jack version of this some time ago.

LOST: Saul Bass-style by Hexagonall

Lost vs. Saul Bass from Hexagonall on Vimeo.

Saul Bass is the man behind the opening sequences of Psycho, North by Northwest, Vertigo, and others. This is the opening sequence os LOST, re-imagined in his style. Personally I really wouldn't mind seeing this every week ;)

Check out the "Tron" version in the original Vulture link below, and stop by Hexagonall's Vimeo page:

1. Emptied Bottle (non-tiling, set your background to black; can also be used as a desktop background)

1. Full Bottle (non-tiling, set your background to white)
I really hope someone uses these. So if that person is you, kindly give me a heads up either in the comments or on Twitter (@aouaLOST). The first one was my background until I posted it here. Now it's for all of you. Thanks.

So on Tuesday's episode, "Ab Aeterno," Jacob gave us some insight on just what the Island is. And no, contrary to what Richard believes, it isn't Hell. Jacob described it as a cork on the mouth of a wine bottle. In this metaphor, the wine represents evil, darkness. When the cork is placed, the darkness is contained. When it is removed, the world becomes corrupted. The darkness Jacob is referring to of course is the Man in Black.

So there you have it. The Island is sort of like Hell, but only for the Man in Black. For everyone else, it's...Purgatory? I mean, Jacob did describe it as a place where you could basically forget your past, no matter how bad it was, and attempt to redeem yourself. And from everything we've seen, that seems about right. Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, or what-have-you, is a place on Earth.

Now that we're at the half-way point, after seeing this episode, there's only one question that really matters: Will the bottle be uncorked?

"Ab Aeterno"-Inspired art by Brady Clark

Check out the original at Fuck Yeah Lost, and visit graphic designer, Brady Clark's Blog. Great stuff!

It's not an island

These are non-tiling Twitter backgrounds; for the first one set you background color to black. For the second, set your background to white.

Pretty simple stuff. I personally like the black one better. We learned on Tuesday that not only is it a place where miracles happen, the Island is also apparently a cork. Yes folks, it keeps the bad stuff swirling around inside it. At least according to Jacob. To Richard, though, the Island is hell. So what is it really?

Meanwhile, if there's any graphic designers out there, does anyone know the official Pantone color of LOST (if there is one)? Even a hexadecimal? You've all seen it; it's this deep teal they use in all their atmosphere backgrounds. Comment if you have any idea.

So what did you think about last night's episode, "Ab Aeterno"? Longest flashback ever, but I think this is my favorite episode of the season. Probably even the best since "The Constant". And it must be said, I *heart* Nestor Carbonell. Something about his performance spoke to my heart. His character is so tightly woven into the mythology of the show, and this emotional, human side to Richard was a welcome change to the usual stoic we always see.

Tonight's episode is Richard-centric, and is entitled "Ab Aeterno" (translated from Latin, literally "from the everlasting" or "from eternity", meaning "since the beginning of time").

Here are four new Richard backgrounds to celebrate LOST's most enigmatic being. My fave is the third one. Very simple, but Ricardus looks totally spooky in it, and I like that. First one is similar, but with "Ab Aeterno" ghosted across him. As always, Namaste, and enjoy the show.

Tiny Kate Sculpture by Adam Beane

Here's a really tiny (yet incredibly detailed) sculpture of Evangeline Lilly's Kate on LOST by Adam Beane. Looks to me like the scene where Charlie says, "Guys, where are we?"

The artist has made other great miniatures of iconic people including Princess Leia and President Barack Obama. See Kate, and more pictures here. And check out more from Adam Beane at The Swedish Bed.

Black and white portraits

See some very realistic black and white hand-drawn portraits of major LOST characters over at The Art Experience. Really fantastic work!

New: Tiling Twitter background! (two sizes)

Side note: Happy Birthday to LOST's Tania Raymonde! (Alex Rousseau)

1. Small Version
2. Regular version

We're mixing it up a little today. All the other Twitter backgrounds I've done here have been "non-tiling". This is the first (I don't know if it will be the last) tiling background. It comes in two sizes; I personally like the smaller one, but your preference really depends on what size monitor you're looking at everyday.

Here's how you apply it: In the Settings menu, under design, simply choose the saved file, then click on the "tile background" option, as seen below. Then save your changes and you're done.

As a reference, this is what the difference in size looks like (click for full size):

These backgrounds feature the spot where, in many ways, it all began--the hatch. I've made two versions here: one with a nebula peek-through, and one with plain black. Couldn't decide which one I liked more.

The Man in Black: Original Recipe + Extra Crispy

This is a non-tiling Twitter background; set you background color to black.

This background features a composite of The Man in Black's face, both in his original form (played by Titus Welliver), and in Locke's. And can I just say, while I miss the real Locke, MIB has taken us for such a ride that I tend to forget John is dead. Terry O'Quinn has done a fantastic job of basically playing two different characters on the same show. What a unique opportunity.

Charlotte's return

This is a non-tiling Twitter background; set you background color to black.

This week's episode, "Recon", marked the return of LOST's resident archaeologist, Charlotte Staples Lewis. Only this time she was totally alive and totally into Sawyer. No bloody noses here! Just some good, old-fashioned blind date fun. No chocolate before dinner, girl!

Whose gun is this?

(click on pic for full resolution)

This is a non-tiling Twitter background; set you background color to white.

The only thing harder than keeping track of the goings-on on this show is keeping track of all the guns. This particular one is a SIG found in the Marshall's Halliburton case. The model was passed around and used by Sawyer, Kate, Sayid, Locke, and Shannon. A similar gun was also used by the Others. But hey, on an Island like this, it's downright essential to know your way around a firearm.

Meanwhile, what did you guys think about last night's episode, "Recon"? After three weeks, our favorite con-man came back with a vengeance. And by coming back, I don't just mean on screen. We finally have old Sawyer back! His return was marked last night by another con, only this time instead of lying to people, he told them the truth. The grand plan to leave Widmore, Flocke and company to fight amongst themselves was revealed fireside, to his multi-timeline friend, Kate. (SKaters, last night was the first time this season he called her "Freckles")

I don't know if it's the shipper in me, but weren't there so many Kate references in this episode? Everything from "Little House", to the Hydra cages, the fireside chat with him calling her "Freckles", to her actually showing up in his flash-sideways. And the dress. Oh, the dress. Can I hear an "Aaawww"?

The two up there^ are from tonight's episode, entitled "Recon", which is Sawyer centric. I've made no secret of the fact that I'm a total SKater, and I'm tickled that pretty much every Kate or Sawyer centric episode heavily features the counterpart. These promo pics reminded me of this unseen "Live Together, Die Alone" fireside moment between the show's resident bad-asses:

Guess they're making it up to us? Here's a throwback Twitter background to celebrate:

Enjoy the show tonight, guys! And for those who have stayed absolutely spoiler-free for this episode, check out the other "Recon" backgrounds from earlier in the week (any spoilers here are mild in nature).

This background features a promo pic from this coming episode, with the lovely and matted Claire 2.0. Nothing too spoilery; just standing around, looking crazy.

And can I just say, I cannot wait for this next episode? No Sawyer for three weeks in a row is a crime against humanity.

On Tuesday, we saw a submarine surveying the shore, with Widmore leading the mission from the inside. Looks like Jacob was right. He managed to find it after all.
